I hate college sports. I can not think of a more asinine waste of money and resources. Billions and billions of dollars every year wasted on sports programs. To what end? "My team beat your team!" Actually, you didn't play for either team. At most it actually effects about 200 people, most of which shouldn't even be receiving an education free of charge.
"But a lot of these kids don't have another way to get into college." Good! The world could use some strong backed ditch diggers. Why the hell are we not sending kids to college on free rides that have 3.0 GPA's in high school instead of 2.0 meat sacks? Maybe if we actually used these resources that are wasted on creating and policing a useless sports program we could find some good alternate fuels, or cure another disease, or basically stop being laughed at by other nations around the world for our lack of worthwhile universities.
I could go on for hours and hours on this topic, but I just don't have the juice right now. Probably due to the fact that I attended an American university.
